For

 LTC Robert N. Gable

4 December 2000

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

LTC Gable enlisted in 1972 following graduation from High School in Beaverton, Oregon.  Between basic training and AIT he and the former Katherine Sandefur were married. Rob and Katherine have two grown children, Christine and Stephanie.  During his sixth year of active service, Staff Sergeant Gable was selected for and attended Officer Candidate School followed by the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course.  The following year he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration after seven years of night school at education centers at each of his duty locations.  Two years later he completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration.  A comprehensive listing of LTC Gable's military awards, decorations, and duty assignments is included in this program and attest to LTC Gable's contributions to the US Army and US Army Reserve.

During his career LTC Gable has served in 20 different duty assignments, earned 14 separate decorations and badges in addition to numerous Oak Leaf Clusters, and moved 19 times since 1972.  Rob and Katherine have shared a long and productive military career and will be retiring to a 12-acre horse farm in North Carolina (Gable's Stables).  Katherine is there now, anxiously awaiting completion of this ceremony and Rob's out-processing at Fort Leonard Wood tomorrow.
